Grammy Award Winning Artist Mýa is celebrating 2011 in the entertainment industry as an internationally known, respected & loved singer, songwriter, dancer, actress and philanthropist with the eagerly anticipated release of brand new music. Mýa recently collaborated with French DJ/Producer Cedric Gervais for their new single, the dance-floor anthem, “Love is the Answer” via Ultra Records which E! premiered, and Mýa performed at the International Dance Music Awards. In 2011 Mýa will also give a “K.I.S.S” to her fans via her “Fabulous” new album, “K.I.S.S. (Keep It Sexy & Simple).”
Mýa entertained the world and impressed millions on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars and finished out the decade named as one of Billboard’s Hot 100 Artists of the Decade, a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award–Winning Actress (for CHICAGO) and as the President and founder of her own non–profit foundation, The Mýa Arts & Tech Foundation. As a philanthropist, Mýa continues to devote her time and resources to various causes. In 2005, Mýa founded TMATF: The Mýa Arts & Tech Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing disadvantaged youth growth and opportunity through arts & technology education, where she serves as both executive director and teacher. Mýa has been featured in various PSA’s and acted as a spokeswoman for various charities and causes including Lifetime’s Stop Breast Cancer for Life campaign, recording "My Bra" a song sold on iTunes donating 100% of proceeds to breast cancer research. Mýa’s charitable appearance highlights include: LifeBall in Austria to fight Global AIDS, (RED) campaign for Dell + Microsoft, international spokesperson for the North Shore Animal League’s Tour For Life, VH1‟s Save the Music, ROCK THE VOTE, Cyndi Lauper’s TRUE COLORS: Give A Damn, and the recording of Wyclef Jean’s “We Are the World 2010” for Haiti. Recently, Mya partnered with the NOH8 campaign to help them launch their LGBT equality efforts internationally and is the Celebrity Ambassador for Africare.
Mýa has spent the past decade developing her artistry, entertaining the world, and advocating causes close to her heart. In these 12 years Mýa has grown into a woman with a newfound strength that stems from changes, professionally and personally: Mýa is finally free to openly speak from her heart, soul and mind, “I feel I've found my comfort zone.” In the past couple years Mýa, built her own recording studio, dedicated herself to learn sound engineering, reprioritized her vision and awakened a new sense of passion within herself, “I just knew that I had to empower myself and create one of the many platforms necessary to birth art and energy.
